Top Grammy Moments

As usual, the Grammy Awards were way too long; however, this doesn't mean I didn't enjoy most of the show. Read on to see what my favorite moments were, and of course, what my general thoughts are on the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards.

WHOA! Number one fave Grammy moment just appeared on my TV screen: The legendary Stevie Nicks walking on stage to perform with Taylor Swift. Very pleasant surprise!

The wonder woman from Fleetwood Mac sang the hit "Rhiannon" with the luckiest 20-year-old in the world. The set then went on to include Taylor singing her hit, "Belong with Me," with Stevie as her backup vocalist and tambourine player. UGH. So jealous, but Taylor couldn't be more deserving - she's so humble and talented. She's also the big winner of the night, having picked-up the Grammy for Best Album of the Year.

2. So who knew Pink worked part-time with Cirque du Soleil?!

Her performance was absolutely beautiful as she sang and twirled over the crowd at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. Her body suit was quite the number as well, especially when she became drenched with water all the while continuing her acrobatic number. I'm not sure, though, how some of the celebrities felt when their couture gowns got soaked in water... ah well.

3. Wearing my 3D glasses for the Michael Jackson tribute (yes, I just so happened to have kept them from a 3D movie screening and had them conveniently stored in my desk drawer).

Great idea for prime time; however, it didn't work that well. That's okay though, because the artists who sang the tribute were fabulous (Celine Dion, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Smokey Robinson and Jennifer Hudson).

4. Paris, 11, and Prince Michael, 12, accepting a Lifetime Achievement Award for their father, Michael Jackson.

I commend their appearance as it's not easy to lose a parent, never mind being on television in front of millions of people to speak about that special person. Prince acknowledged his father's humanitarian work and said a big thank you to the pop icon's fans for their support.

5. So the rumours were true: Lady Gaga opened the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, but with help from none other than Sir Elton John.

The piano duet was better than I had expected, and that smile on Gaga's face was priceless - she sure is on top of the world. She's fearless by being true to herself, and it sure is paying off.

6. Mary J. Blige, Andrea Bocelli and David Foster's performance of Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water," dedicated to the Haitian people.

People from all over the world can download this touching performance at www.iTunes.com/Target, where donations will be made to the American Red Cross's Haiti disaster relief efforts.

7. What a year for Toronto rapper, and former Degrassi: The Next Generation actor, Drake, 23.

Drake has two nominations at this year's Grammy Awards, and he hasn't even released his debut album. Toward the end of the awards show, he shared the stage with heavy-weights Travis Barker, Lil Wayne and Eminem. I liked the performance, and apparently so did Jamie Foxx, who was filming it on his BlackBerry. I was, however, quite annoyed that the sound kept on cutting out for at least one quarter of the performance.

8. Slash's guest appearance on Jamie Foxx's performance of "Blame It."

The hat, the hair, the leather pants, the electric guitar - it couldn't have been hotter. He definitely made that performance...

9. Shocker: Kings of Leon beating out Lady Gaga for Record of the Year.

Don't get me wrong - I pretty much wore out my Kings of Leon CD; but, Gaga's worldwide popularity is undeniable, so I'm definitely surprised by this win.

10. The Grammy's attempts at web 2.0... not impressive, but thanks for trying!

People had the opportunity to vie for a spot on the Black Eyed Peas' Grammy performance by uploading their own rendition of some Black Eyed Peas songs. However, the chosen performances hardly received any attention. They were shown on a couple screens that never received anything more than, at best, a few medium shots. I'm sure many, many people were disappointed.

Also, the Grammy's and CBS collaborated to host "You Pick It, They Play It!" where viewers could go online and choose the song they wanted Bon Jovi to perform as the third in the rock band's Grammy set list. Bon Jovi ended the set with "Livin' on a Prayer" - as chosen by the fans.

The dangers of yearning to be perfect

Ugh, I have to say something about this - also because nothing else interests me right now.

Look at these "breasts":

Yuck. Do they disgust you as much as they disgust me? Why would anyone want a "cleavage" like that? The reason I put cleavage in quotation marks is because there isn't one! Idiot Heidi Montag, 23, famous for her role on MTV's The Hills, reportedly had ten plastic surgery procedures in a ten hour time frame on November 20.

Here's a question: is she nuts? I assume she's suffering from body dysmorphic disorder (BDD). BDD is a condition in which a person looks normal but sees a distorted image when looking at his or herself. She looked fine before, but she is striving to be a pop star, she lives in Los Angeles, and her friends are filthy rich, so there really are many reasons for her dangerous decision to go under the knife.

Oh, by the way, you'll notice I wrote that Heidi wants to be a pop star. Uh yeah... about that... if you saw her performance at the Miss Universe Pageant in August 2009, you'll know she can only ever dream of becoming the next Britney Spears.

The other question I have, and probably more important, is what kind of an unethical plastic surgeon performed these surgeries all at once? Well because you asked, his name is Dr. Frank Ryan and he is a plastic surgeon to the stars in Hollywood.

Ugh, I just blogged his name - one of the reasons he worked on Heidi, of course. This man (who clearly has one too many monthly Botox injections), should not be allowed to perform a brow lift, nose job, chin reduction, neck liposuction, breast augmentation, buttock augmentation, numerous fat injections in the face, liposuction on waist, hips and thighs, two Botox injections, and pinning back of the ears, all in one day on one young woman! Dr. Frankenstein should be ashamed. Anyways, enough about him. He's rich, I'm not. Moving on!

Now back to Heidi. She recovered at home for seven weeks with her husband, fellow fame-whore and The Hills cast member, Spencer Pratt, 26, and was finally seen back to her old ways of staging photo ops while practicing yoga in the park the other day (as seen in the first photo of this blog post.) Now carrying DDD breasts on a petite frame, and a chin that has been quite shaven down (and don't forget about the other eight procedures), Heidi says she will definitely go under the knife again.

"I'm just starting. . . Nobody ages perfectly, so I plan to keep using surgery to make me as perfect as I can be," she says to People Magazine.

So, in honour of those with an extremely low self-consciousness or BDD, I introduce you to Miss Jocelyn Wildenstein, aka the Cat Lady:

Jocelyn knew her marriage - to what is now her ex-billionaire husband - was in trouble, so she had millions of dollars worth of plastic surgery performed on her face. She wanted to resemble what he loved the most: his cat.

I honestly feel so horrible for this lady, because nothing can be done to fix the viciousness that has been done to her face. In all seriousness, this is a disease, and I can only hope that Heidi has a good support system that will hopefully talk her out of any future surgeries.

And the Best Picture goes to...

Avatar just won for Best Motion Picture - Drama. Too bad I really don't want to see it... sci-fi/fantasy... errrr not my thing. But congratulations! It really is a worldwide phenomenon. Oh, and thank YOU Mr. Jim Cameron for letting the world know you had to pee. Really, you shouldn't have...

And there you have it - The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Up next (well, March 7 to be exact), The 82nd Annual Academy Awards! It really is my favourite event of the year (yes, I'm that cool).

For a complete list of nominees and winners at this year's Golden Globes, click here. Good night!

Who would've thunk it?!

The Hangover wins for Best Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical, beating (500) Days of Summer, It's Complicated, Julie and Julia, and Nine. Also, fan-favourite, Glee, took home a Golden Globe for Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical.

Anyone else loving Ricky Gervais' hosting job? I love when he drinks his beer at the podium - perfect!

Yes! Favourite win of the night!

Christoph Waltz wins for Best Supporting Actor for his brilliant and scary portrayal of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa in Inglourious Basterds! His portrayal left a haunting impression in my mind of the cruelty that was Nazy Germany. If you haven't yet seen Quentin Tarantino's film, I highly recommend it.

Hope you're watching the awards, Lisa - thought about you when he won!

And (some of) the winners are...

Seventy-five minutes into The 67th Annual Golden Globes and the awards are flowing. Mo'Nique took home the first award for her Best Supporting Actress role in Precious: Based On The Novel 'Push' By Sapphire. Mo'Nique plays an abusive welfare mother - very different from her comedic roles in the past. Her speech was very moving and had me teary-eyed - all within the first three minutes of the show.

Michael Giacchino deservedly won for Best Original Score for the film, Up - which also took home Best Animated Feature Film.

Meryl Streep just won Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical for her role in Julie and Julia. She was nominated twice in this category, also for her role in It's Complicated. Such a classic woman, Meryl graced us with a loving speech - I could listen to that woman talk all day.

One hour 'til the glitz and glamour at The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards

In only one hour, people from around the world will be tuning in to see the who's who of film and television walk the red carpet at The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards. This year's awards will surely be entertaining - British comedian, Ricky Gervais (The Office, Ghost Town), is hosting. Curiously, he is the first host of the Golden Globes in the last 15 years.

Now, there's much more to the awards than just the red carpet, and I look forward to seeing Martin Scorsese receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award. This prestigious award goes to someone who has outstandingly contributed to the world of entertainment. Scorsese is most well-known for his art of direction (The Departed, Goodfellas), but has also produced, wrote and acted in films in his career that has spanned more than 40 years.

So sit back, pour yourself a cocktail, and enjoy the show. Hopefully someday I won't be blogging about the awards and will instead be attending them all the while prepping my celeb clients on what to say - and what not to say - to those pesky reporters ;) Ta ta!
